You don’t have to necessarily be a Geographer to care about location. Geography plays a major role in everyone’s day to day life whether it is choosing a grocery store to pick up that gallon of milk to finding the closest parts store for your 68 camaro rebuild. This reasoning was the basis for MapInfo in developing Envinsa, MapInfo knew that it was not just researchers or market analysts that need to gain access to the power of location intelligence. Envinsa was developed to allow for the powers of location intelligence to be accessible for a wide variety of enterprise platforms, allowing for integrated mapping technologies to be easily adapted to the specific needs of an organization without a heavy technological overhead.

What is Envinsa ?
Envinsa is a Java platform that deploys location-based Web Services. It provides a application programming interface (API) that utilize simple object access protocal (SOAP), web sercice definition language (WSDL) and universal description discovery intergarion (UDDI) so that any application may consume a service and utilize its capabilities.
